We found the drive out of Glasgow to be a reasonable one and, after a long drive, we arrived at our bed and breakfast, Morvich. It was warm and dry and Heather and John were most helpful with suggestions for things to do.
We went to a local restaurant for dinner where I had Irn bru, a Scottish soft drink clear orange in colour.
We were tired after our long day so it was time to go home to bed.
Our first full day in the Highlands saw us travel to the Isle of Skye.
We went to the Bonnie Prince Charlie monument which was near the train bridge used in the Harry Potter movies first and then set out for Skye.
It was a very long drive so, when we arrived, we found a cafe for a light lunch.
After that we took photos near the harbour of Portree.
It was then late so we made our way back.
The day was finished but a long day awaited us on Sunday.
We had tickets on the Jacobite express (Hogwarts Express) in Compartment D which is the section used in the Harry Potter movies. We were sharing with a young London couple and an older German couple.

After two hours and two stops we arrived in Mallaig, a small seaside village. We walked around for about half an hour and then went to the tearoom for lunch. I had scones and jam and cream.
It was almost time to board the train for the return journey so we walked leisurely back.
The return journey was a little quicker as we did not have to stop.
After getting back to the car, we decided to drive to Loch Ness and Inverness as this would be our only chance.
Loch Ness is very large. Inverness seems quite a compact city.
Driving home, we spotted an hotel on the shores of Loch Ness so we stopped for dinner.
It was time to go home to pack up and prepare for the next stop on our journey.
